The Most Powerful CFL...
. . . is the one you put in Congress. Climate Friendly Legislators support
- reducing U.S. greenhouse gas emissions to
25 percent below 1990 levels by 2020;
- a moratorium on new, polluting, coal-burning power plants;
- requiring electric utilities to generate at least 20 percent of their
electricity from the wind, sun, oceans, and other renewable
sources by 2020; and
- helping poor and vulnerable people at home and abroad
advance in the climate-friendly economy of the future.

Climate Change Legislation Postponed Until 2009
FCNL had been urging senators to use the debate on the Boxer-Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act of 2008 (S. 3036) as an opportunity to talk about the need for urgent action to address climate change. But a minority of senators blocked efforts to bring legislation to address harmful climate change to a vote on Friday, June 6. Find out about the vote and how your senators voted.
See a chart from FCNL's May 2008 Washington Newsletter describing the impact of this legislation. Find out more about the legislation on our blog, Green Light on Washington.
